[expand title=” Title: In Pursuit of Vision “]
Scripture: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverb 29:18
In the year 1899, the commissioner of the US Patent office, Charles H. Duell made a statement. He said, “everything that can be invented has been invented”. If the statement was true and follow, imagine what the world would have been like today; with absence of the IPhones, Flat screen TV, Space rocket etc. He could have robbed the world of these great inventions that make life comfort from you and I.
A vision gives us something bigger to live for than merely existing. It brings out the best in us to show our true potential.
A vision is more than just a dream, because everyone of us have a dream from the young man day dreaming about his dream girl in his class and owning the fancy red car in the dealership, to a gambler who is dreaming of winning the jack pot. Vision is the ability to see beyond where you are standing. John Maxwell defines as,
- Awareness: the ability to see the invisible, the way things ought to be
- Attitude: the faith to believe, being aware where God wants to take us
- Action: the courage to do, Vision never becomes reality without action
Vision gives directions and focuses on the future. The biggest challenge we face as Christian is to dream God-sized dreams. It makes the devil really mad when we have Godly Vision, even madder when we have the faith to believe and courage to act on it. God often calls us to attempt to do something so great that if God is not in it, it is doomed to fail. He puts the extra in our ordinary and we become extraordinary. He puts the super in our natural, we become supernatural. The success of our vision is largely dependent on our partnership with God.
Like human pregnancy, which takes 9 months, a vision also goes stage of development before it birth. If a vision is premature, it might be able to stand the harsh environment and dream killers. Vision is the engine that moves us beyond our present challenges. We are going to have challenges in life (John 16:33), but we will overcame and see God fulfill has promised.
Don’t be discouraged if not everyone sees or understands your Vision. The scripture tells us “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (Habakkuk 2:3)
Here are some steps we can take.
- Seek God and be aware of what he wants to do. The cost of being misled is far greater than the cost of spending the time to find out what God’s plans are.
- Pray and even fast for God to give us a new vision
- Open your heart to God, don’t put God in box and expect him to conform to your thinking
- Dare to believe in God’s ability to perform the supernatural through you. Develop a childlike faith
- Act on the leading of the Holy Spirit. Don’t ask God for new instruction if you did not obey the last one.
- Be courageous enough to stand alone, one with God is majority
No matter where you are, always your keep vision in front of you.
God bless you.
