“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” – 2 Peter 3:18
Christian growth is about the quality of life. Our growth as Christians is not determine by how many times we have attended church in a year, it is how much closer we have drawn to Christ that year. It’s not a matter how many Bible verses we have memorized, it is a matter of how much God’s Word have allow to change my life. Am I closer to God today than I was yesterday?
Christian growth is about character change. How much do I show love to the people around me? Am I am allowing God’s grace to flow through me? Christian growth is a matter of how much my character is being changed by God’s power. I believe that God has a process for Christian Growth. It begins by grace but it also continues by grace. We are to “grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” How do we do this? I believe Ephesians chapter four gives us some insight as to how to grow in the grace of God. Paul is writing to us and he says “You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24)
“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” – Daniel 11:32
Our knowledge of God is key. It keeps the ship of our life, steady in trial and tribulations (Mark 5:35 -41). The knowledge of God involves spiritual wisdom and understanding. How can we obtain it ? Growth in the knowledge of God requires patience, a teachable spirit and consistency.
God Bless you
