Title: A Good Conductor

“If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” – 2 Timothy 2:21

In many homes, chinawares are only used on special occasions, because they are more expensive and thus more valuable than our regular paper plates we use for outings such as picnics. So depending on the function, you would choose the plates accordingly.

Spiritual things are comparable to natural things. The scripture quotes “If a man therefore purges himself…” I would admit I have prayed like this, “Lord uses me”, clearly from scripture it seems we determine to what extend we are used by God. Although we say one thing with our mouth, our heart and action says something completely different (Matthew 15:8).

Have you ever wondered, why God would use some people for special miracle and bypass others? We have in the scriptures how the Lord bypassed the prophet Eli, to speak to a little boy called Samuel (1 Samuel 3:1-14). God is not a respecter of man (Acts 10:34).

In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. – 2 Timothy 2:20

The Lord worked special miracles through the hand of Paul (Acts 9:11). Paul at one point in time was the greatest persecutor Christian. It doesn’t matter how far you have gone; the Lord can still use you but you cannot live with one foot in the world and the other with Christ and expect to be a vessel of honour (Rev. 3:16). Remember your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Being a vessel of honour is a sacrifice but that is the requirement to be a carrier of His power (Romans 12:1).

[pullquote] “…I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God…” – Romans 12:1 [/pullquote]A vessel is something that is used to hold something else. Jesus said, “No one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins”. God is not a respecter of men. If you are available, he will use you (Matthew 9:17, Acts 10:34).

Miracles, signs and wonder belong to all children of God. The scripture says “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” – Mark 16:17-18

Finally, a conductor can be defined as an object or material which permits the flow of electric current. Materials are classified according to the properties or ability to carry the flow of electricity. Wood and clay are poor conductors, while copper, silver and gold are good conductors. Gold and silver are precious and valuable; wood and clay are cheap and thus less precious or valuable. The type of vessel we choose to become will dictate how, when and more important if God can use us. Are you willing?
