Barriers to Healing

Scripture: For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ – Matthew 13:15

Living in a perfect state of health is God’s desire for all men and women, however there are times we have prayed for healing without seeing any result. We might begin to wonder if God really cares about our suffering and pain.

There can be many barriers to healing and we list several below.

Ignorance: The scripture says “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6) Paul exhorted in his writings, “Brothers, I don’t want you to be ignorant…” regarding spiritual truths, commandments, blessings and daily life. Our redemption package comes with a parcel of Healing. As children of God we are entitled to power of God that makes whole.
Unbelief: To doubt God’s ability to heal is sin in itself. The Scripture says “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” (Heb.3:12–13) .
Unconfessed sin: The Psalms says, “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened” Psalms 66:18. The bible makes it abundantly clear that sin is barrier to prayers being answered. The scripture says “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” (Prov. 28:13). Ask God to reveal any areas of unconfessed sin today.

Resentment and unforgiveness toward others (Mark 11:25): When we harbor anything in our heart against anyone, it can be a root of bitterness. Forgiveness is a choice that need not include the participation of the one you are forgiving. Forgiveness does NOT mean that you are excusing the debts and wrongs that someone did to you, it means that you are choosing to not collect the debt! If you want God to “tear up” the IOUs He has against you; then you must “tear up” the IOUs you have against others
Occult involvement: Seemingly ‘harmless’ things like fortune-telling, horoscopes, and playing in Eastern theology can open the door to what is described as “magic” that is to be banished from a believer’s life. Any idolatry in any way, shape or form, even ignorantly, must be dealt with! Ask God to reveal this to you. (See Ex.23:24–26)
Entering into False Covenants – Groups like Free Masonry and other ‘secret societies’ require ceremonial agreements that are in direct conflict with God the Creator, His Son Jesus, and His Holy Spirit. Connections to such groups, whether directly or through past generations, can be a huge barrier to receiving God’s blessings.
Effects of a curse over a family:
Being under a particular Curse – The GOOD news is that Jesus has been made a curse so we can be released from every curse! The bad news is that others CAN and we DO place curses on ourselves through various means that need to be renounced. This can be as simple as you constantly saying negative statements like, “I’m so tired,” “I have terminal cancer,” “I’m never going to get better.”
Evil spirits associated with sickness The scripture says, “At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. 41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.” (Luke 4:40–41).

The solution for all of the above, fleshly barriers is the CROSS. The solution to demonic oppression is deliverance. Both are possible through the help of God’s Holy Spirit and other loving believers. Let us all barrier be remove today.
