Title: Cry For Help
Scripture: “ Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.” –Psalms 130:1 -2
The environment we live in often dictate the norm. In most western society, men and women are not allowed to raise their voices in public. But imagine a man or woman drowning in a river, do you think he or she will be gentle calm in their approach for survival? Desperate times calls for desperate measure. The Late man of God, Derek Prince known as a deliverance minister made a statement which I have kept to heart, he said “Only those who are desperate get delivered and only those who are thirst get filled with the Holy Ghost”. When these two requirements are not in place, it simply means that we are still comfort with the way things are, in such situation we will not get God to give us His full attention.
The story of blind Bartimaeus in the scriptures teaches an important lesson of ceasing the moment regardless of what people around us think, the bible says “And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.” (Mark 10 46 – 48)
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. – Romans 8:15 Although the volume of our voice is not requirement for answer prayers, it indicates our desperate need for help. Hannah, the mother of Samuel did not raise voice but you got the answer to her prayers ( See 1 Samuel 1:13-15). A nursing mother will only be concerned with a crying child. Have you cried for help lately or are you happy with the way things are? God is waiting to meet your needs. God can handle our deepest emotional needs because His Holy Spirit searches our hearts to find those emotions so that His Spirit and our spirit together may cry “Abba Father” or” Daddy God”, as we turn to God through prayer.
God is asking us to share with Him all the feelings of life, the good as well as the bad, the happiness as well as the unhappiness, the acceptance as well as the anger we feel or just the broken situations in which we find ourselves in day after day.
[pullquote] Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. – Matthew 11:28-30[/pullquote]We can address God with the totality of our emotions because He can handle it. I pray the courage cry for help in desperate time will come upon you today in Jesus name.
