Title: kingdom Priorities

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” – Matthew 6:33

Priority can be defined as prior, proceeding in order or importance, pre-eminence, preference. Every Christian should ask themselves this question, “What is topmost priority?” Are my priorities God self-centred or self-centred? Having wrong priorities gives the enemy a foothold in a believer’s life. Once the enemy gets a foothold, it will soon become a stronghold. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. – Matthew 6:24

The natural man is rebellious and doesn’t’ like discipline. We don’t like being told what to do. Our mentality is to keep acquiring all the material things you want, and then if we have the time, seek God. But God’s perspective is different. He has given us enough time to do the things He has created to do on earth but enough time to do what we want to do plus our earthly assignment.

[pullquote] “Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you will get neither.” – C.S. Lewis[/pullquote]

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:38-42

Martha had many priorities but Mary chose the one needful thing, which was to give God top priority in her life. We get so caught up in the things of this life, that we forget the one needful thing. “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple.” Psalms 27:4

Jesus was asked what the most important commandment was. He said Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Luke 10:27). He keeps them in perfect peace those who eyes are stayed on him (Isaiah 26:3). If you ever lose your check where your focus is, for godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6)

Finally I close with this scripture “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”- Colossians 3:2. I love this quote, “If you don’t make up your mind, then your unmade mind will unmake you. God can do anything for the man who has made up his mind; He can do little or nothing for the double minded.” For a double minded man is unstable in all of his ways – James 1:8
