Title: Rejoice Always
Scripture: “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” – Philippians 4:4
Joy is the state of delight and wellbeing that comes from knowing God. Joy is not found in temporal things of life. Numerous studies over many years have determined that joy is not linked to circumstances, i.e. Money, success, status, age, gender, ethnicity, even physical health doesn’t have any significant correlation to joy; what it is linked to, most often, is relationships. Our Joy therefore should be centered on our knowledge of Him who has redeemed us by His blood.
There is a distinction between happiness and joy. Happiness is often the result of material prosperity and pleasure. Joy has nothing to do with money or pleasure. Happiness is often an external cause and effect. Joy is God produced in you. It comes from within. It is as a result of maturity of the fruit of the spirit within you (Galatians 5:22) Joy is compatible with pain which means it has no correlation with pleasure. Paul and Silas were beaten but yet they sang praises to God (Acts 16:25).
“…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5
Christians should be on a different frequency from the world. The news on the street shouldn’t affect our joy
- When some see and hear defeat, we can see and hear victory!
- When some see and hear sickness, we can see and hear healing!
- When some see and hear condemnation, we can see and hear forgiveness and mercy!
- When some see and hear despair and sadness, we can see and hear Joy!
[pullquote] Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2 -3 [/pullquote] The Scriptures tells us, “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” (Isaiah 12:3). We all have to learn to look beyond our current situation, remember every Challenge has an expiry date. We all go through times in our lives when we are facing some very difficult situations. It could be a financial crisis, it could be an illness, a loss of a loved one, a loss of a job, a failed marriage; but we can still have joy. We must not allow circumstance to overwhelm that we lose our joy. As long as God remains on the throne our tomorrow will be alright.
God bless you
