Title: Soul Winning
Scriptures: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. – Proverbs 11:30
The Greek word ‘gospel’ means “good news”. Have you ever considered that even if something is ‘good news’ like a coupon or a promotion, and it arrives too late, it isn’t good news anymore? The church was once influential and effective, yet she forgot their purpose, and ultimately they themselves were forgotten. Evangelism does not have to be an organized church “program”. We must see people for what they are, lost souls in need of a Savior! We must comprehend the consequences of them dying without Jesus, they are destined for the Lake of Fire! We must realize that we have the information that they need to rescue them from that fate!
[pullquote] Christ sends none away empty except for those who are full of themselves. [/pullquote] Our Vision Statement says: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)
[pullquote] “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” – Matthew 4:19[/pullquote]Why should we be concerned about soul winning?
- God Loves Humanity: “The Lord…is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) We are drowning in a world of sin. But God sent a rescuer, a savior, to help keep us from drowning – to keep us from dying. That savior is Jesus Christ. Why did God send Him? Because He loves us (See John 3:16).
- Jesus commands us to go and win souls. The Great Commandment and the Great Commission are not suggestions, they are commandments. Go, make, baptize, and teach are not suggestions. Bring them in, build them up, train them up, send them out is what we have been commanded to do – it is not optional.
- Church Growth is God’s will: A church not growing is dying because a dying church never worries about growing, they just maintain the status quo. A healthy church has got to remain focused on saving the Lost.
Our God is not a God of low expectations, but of high expectations. He expects us make disciples of all nations. Go out today after lost souls.
