[expand title=” Title: What is your destination? “]
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
Every journey has an intended destination. As we begin the New Year 2017, we must ask ourselves the serious question, where are we going? just as airplanes do not take off from an airport without setting a destination. We shouldn’t begin running the race of the year without setting our course. Our destination is more than a new resolution, or an old habit we are trying to break, which usually lasts us a few weeks into year, before we result back to our old ways. Our destination is strongly linked with our destiny, with each year is like a chapter of the book and how the chapter ends depends on depends on us.
A journey indicates progress. One evening some years ago, I made a comment while walking home. I said “Lord, please direct me” and I heard the spirit of God reply, “Where are you going?” Without an intended destination effort and energy will be misdirected and zeal is misplaced. No matter how long and fast we travel on a wrong road, we will to end up in the right destination. Setting our destination before embarking on the journey has added advantages. To name a few;
- It prevents us from wasting our resources on unprofitable adventures
- It stops us from taking wrong detours, which might delay our arrival time
- It helps us travel with the right companion heading towards the same destination
- It gives us an opportunity to evaluate where we are in relation to where we are going
Most of the modern cars are fitted with Satellite navigation system, which aids the driver in getting to their intended destination. For all Christians, the Holy Spirit is our Satellite navigation system. The scripture tells us in John 16:13a, “However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth”. When we walk with the leading of Holy Spirit, we have the assurance “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2
In 2017 don’t allow your past to smother you. All of us have fought His plan, because we think we know better and tried to go wrong journeys heading toward our own plan. Divine Destiny is not about being driven for more, it is about being a functional part of the plan and purpose of God. Divine Destiny is not about having more success in your career or on the job or more money. I pray in 2017 you will fulfill God’s plan for your life and end the journey of this year at the right destination.
