Title: Greater is He that is in you

Scripture: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

IntroductionA journey of thousand miles begins with a step. Taking the first step in any adventure is the most difficult thing; the fear of the unknown often paralyze our spirit of adventure. We find ourselves doubting whether we actually had a good idea in the first place. The mind creates excuses; the body moves lethargically and then we wondered what happened to that initial joy that we had.

The very thought of the greater one in us should thrill every muscle and fiber in us. Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthen me” (Phil. 4:13). The only limitation that we have is the one have placed in our minds. “For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed” (Romans 8:19). In other words, something we do has impact on others. This could be friends, family or someone we have not met or yet to be born.

With the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, a believer does not have an excuse, not to face the Goliath that stands before us. The Greater one now dwells within. Have you ever wondered why it seems Satan attacks you more when you have vision or goal you want to accomplish? The answer is simple. He sees you as a threat to him and his kingdom as long as you doing anything for God. The devil will not leave you alone. Notwithstanding your victory is assured. The following steps will aid fulfilling our potential

  1. An awareness of your identity in Christ. The one inside you is greater than the one in the world. Jesus calls us “the light of the world and a city set on the hill” Matthew 5:14
  2. We are fighting from victory and not for victory. As such we are able to overcome the world. The scripture tells us, “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” col. 2:15
  3. Acts quickly. Take hold of opportunities; time is of the essence. We are told “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” Ecclesiastes 11:4
  4. Our harvest is a direct proportional to our seed and type of seed. Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 2 Cor. 9:6
  5. You have the capacity the do greater work. Jesus said “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

Dare to dream bigger. The greatness of God has no limits and that greatness is within you. He is greater than the devil and his mind games. Step out in faith for your victory is assured.
