Title: God’s faithfulness
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” – Philippians 1:6
The world is constantly changing, filled with uncertainties. Promises are made and broken. You may ask “Is there anything that is sure and certain?” The answer is a resounding “Yes!” God’s faithfulness. Because God is faithful, He keeps every promise he makes. Have you taken the time to trace God’s promises through the Bible?
God told an aged couple Abraham and Sarah, that they were going to give birth to a son. Overhearing the conversation, Sarah’s initial reaction was to laugh to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” (see Genesis 18:10)
God promised His Israel out of Egyptian bondage into a land flowing with milk and honey. God raised Moses in keeping with His promise to lead the children of Israel out of slavery to the Promised Land; but Moses died. What now? Moses may be dead, but that does not negate the promises or end of God’s promises for the children of Israel. God against all odds through Joshua fulfilled his promise.
God’s faithfulness is not dependent on man’s ability. Here are a few bible verses to indicate God’s faithfulness:
Faithful to His Name
- For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. – Isaiah 48:9
Faithfulness in His Promises
- Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. – Deuteronomy 7:9
Faithful to Forgive
- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1: 9
Faithful in Temptation
- There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful; He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that which ye are able to bear, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
Our Faithfulness or our loyalties is a matter of principle not institutions. If the world changes then we should remain true to biblical principles. Good is not bad, because the newspaper says so, but based on God’s word.
Our Faithfulness is a matter of priorities. A faithful man or woman can be counted on; is on time for appointments; keeps his commitments and honors his word. Put’s God first in everything. Are you faithful like your father? Are you diligent to observe all He has commanded?
Prayer Point
- Father, reveal areas of my life where I have been unfaithful to you
- Father, Please let your words be fulfilled in my life and let me enjoy your faithfulness
- Father, please forgive my indiscretion in the time past in Jesus name
- Father, help me to remain on the right path in Jesus name.
