Title: Living Water
Scripture: On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. – John 7:37-39
Water is essential to life, it Refreshes, Cleanse, Cook, quench fire etc. Where there is water, all aspects of life flourishes, no living being can do without water.Water is needed for growth, farmers can tell you the importance of water, Plants will die and crops will fail in drought. The dead sea is so salty that it contains no fish or plant life. There are absolutely no outlets!. This law of nature may also be applied to the child of God, and it explains why many believers are unfruitful and lack spiritual vitality. It’s possible for some people to attend church, listen to religious broadcasts, study the Scriptures, and continually take in the Word as it is preached from the pulpit, and yet seem lifeless and unproductive in their Christian lives. May the Lord make us refreshing fountains where thirsty souls may drink. Indwelt by the Holy Spirit, we possess the “water of life” and can be channels of blessing to those in need
You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. – Psalm 65:9
When we eat food, we have a drink of water, when we eat the word of God then we need the water of the Holy Spirit to help us digest. The digestion of the word of God is help by the Holy Spirt after all He wrote the scriptures. Many Chrisitisan are suffering dehydration and constipation because they don’t drink enough water. Dehydration is a very dangerous condition Many times people look for satisfaction in all the wrong places. The only drink that has no side effects is water, coffee has caffeine, soda has sugar, beer has alcohol, juices have acids, and can build up toxins in your system but clean pure water has no toxins and will actually help flush impurities from your bodies.
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
John 4: 7 -15
– But many times water is too simple an answer for many and they look to quench there thirst with things that are full of spiritual toxins
–
What do I do?
can we guard against spiritual dehydration? A quote from a medical article regarding physiological dehydration gives as good an answer as any: “The best way to treat dehydration is to prevent it from occurring.” The psalmist seemed to have a good idea about preventing spiritual dehydration:
Psalm 42:1-2
1 As the (deer) panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
