Title: Misled by a Voice

Scripture: The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray. – Proverbs 12:26

It is impossible to live a life that is unaffected by other people. Their attitudes and opinions, like pollen, blow into our lives, shaping our perspective and influencing our decisions. When one godly person’s life sharpens another’s, it’s a good thing. It yields a harvest of mature fruit overtime.

“But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.” – 1 Corinthian 5:11

There are two different type of voices that can lead a man

  • Voice of Men: Example, Parents, Teachers, Mentors, Friends and Family
  • Voice of Spirit: Holy Spirit and demonic Spirit

Here are some areas of Influence:

  • TRADITIONS OF MEN: It is easy to be led astray when we hold on to the tradition and neglect what the Spirit of God is saying at the hour. Leaving the commands of God Undone. Hence pleasing men and displeasing
  • FOCUSING ONLY ON THE OUTER MAN: It is easy to be led astray when we want to gratify the flesh and neglect what the spirit is saying to the church. We must avoid gossip, greed, lying and lack of compassion.
  • MAKING DISTINCTIONS WHERE GOD HAS MADE NONE: It is easy to be led astray when we want to super impose our perspective on clear scriptural doctrine.

The Scriptures tell us, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:11). The responsibility is on us to ask for direction.

How to be Led by His Spirit

“Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” – Acts 17:11

  • Listen to learn, not to reply:
  • Search the scriptures daily
  • Ask questions
  • Stay within right company

Pray Points

  • Father, If I have missed my step help back on the right track.
  • Father, open my ears to the voice of your Holy Spirit
  • Father, keep me focused on the narrow path in Jesus name
