Title: Seek Peace with all Men
Scripture: “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” – Romans 12:18
We all have different personalities, backgrounds, likes and dislikes. This adds complexities to our daily living, but the scriptures tell us to seek peace with all men. Examples
- “Seek peace and pursue it.” (1 Pet. 3:10-11)
- “Pursue peace with all people.” (Heb. 12:14)
- “Live peaceably with all men.” (Rom. 12:18)
[pullquote] Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. – Romans 14:19 [/pullquote] Peace is not attained through passive actions. The death of Jesus brings reconciliation between individuals and God, making our pursuit of peace a child of God. It sharpens our spiritual antenna allowing the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to dominate our heart and lead us aright. Peace is as foundational as faith, love and righteousness. It is not optional!
[pullquote] Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. – Isaiah 26:3 [/pullquote]To live at peace with all Men, I will suggest the following:
- We must first make our relationship with God what it ought to be
- Be considerate: Putting other first and self last in actions and in words. Speak evil of no one, let us maintain an attitude of humility.
- Let your “Yes” be “Yes” and “No” be “No”. Simply be a person of your word. The bible reminds us that if we man don’t sin with his tongue, such man is a perfect man.
- Keep eyes fixed on the Lord always. The bible tells us “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isa 26:3). “To be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Rom 8:6)
- Avoid retaliation and seeking vengeance, the Lord said vengeance is mine.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9
