Title:The Peace Of God

Scripture : And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:7

Everyone wants peace. Whether you’re a national leader sitting across a table from other world leaders; a businessman facing the pressures and deadlines at the office; a homemaker trying to corral the kids, or a student just trying to make it through the semester. Everyone wants peace. We will go to whatever limits to find peace. Most people’s pursuit of peace is only an attempt to get away from problems. That is why people seek peace through alcohol, drugs or other forms.

Our peace as Christians is unrelated to circumstances; we are not touched by what happens on the outside. You may be in the midst of great trials and still have biblical peace. When peace is on guard in heart and mind, the Christian has entered an impregnable citadel from which nothing can dislodge him. The name of the fortress is Christ, and the guard is peace. The peace of God stands guard and keeps worry from the corroding our hearts, and unworthy thoughts from tearing up our mind. (Proverbs 4:23)

When Jesus appeared before Pilate, He was so calm, so serene, so controlled, and so at peace, that Pilate became greatly disturbed. He was furious that Jesus was standing before him fearless; and in a near frenzy, Pilate said, “Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” (John 19:10) Then in perfect peace, Jesus replied, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above” (John 19:11).

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. – 2 Thessalonians 3:16

  • The peace of God guides your mind against mental break down
  • The peace of God guides your heart against heart breaks

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

A few Points on how to live in perpetual peace

  • Cultivate an attitude of gratitude: Be grateful for all God has already done. Sing, dance and rejoice. A living dog is better than a dead lion (Ecclesiastes 9:4)
  • Focus on God’s presence: The scriptures says ” You will keep in perfect peace the mind [that is] dependent [on You], for it is trusting in You ” (Isa. 26:3). We have a choice of either focusing on our problems of focusing on God, who holds the solution.
  • Rejoice in Hope: Even when things don’t make sense, we must trust God’s purpose. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths” (Prov. 3:5-6). Remember this “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)
  • Meditate on the Word of God so that you might be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2. God’s Word is your owner’s manual for life. It contains principles for health, finance, marriage, relationships, business, and much more.
  • Above all trust Him for everything. He won’t fail you.

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. – Psalm 16:11

What is robbing you of peace today? Is it guilt? Turn to God for forgiveness? Is it worry? Is lack of finances? A difficult person? Marital Issues? You can talk to Christ about all of these things and anything else that is bothering you. He is the Prince of Peace

Shalom
