Title: Where Is Your Heart?

Scripture: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21

IntroductionThe first question we must ask ourselves is “What is treasure?” and “Where is our treasure?” In answer to these questions, we will answer the question “Where is our heart?” because where your treasure is, your heart will be also. Treasures are simply items that are most valuable to you, your love, devotion and faith. At the click of a button we can check our bank balance, call our stockbroker or portfolio Manager to enquire the status of our treasures. We might do this several times a day, especially when we are expecting some transaction. There are two kinds of treasures; earthly treasure and heavenly treasure. Jesus said in Matthew 6:20, “…store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…”

Treasures are not limited to just money. As you know, wealth is not limited to paper money, you could own a variety of assets more valuable than money. The question is ‘Are we investing all our time, talents, money and dreams in this world and for our own sake? Or are we investing in the things of God? Are we aiming for comfort or for God’s glory? What are you investing in?’ Remember the things of this world may be good, but they don’t last forever and Heaven keeps a detailed record of your investment (See Acts 10:4, Matthew 26:13). You can tell what is really important to a person by what they spend their money on. Looked back at your last ten purchases. You can begin to see where your heart is

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

Giving is not about the money, it is about reminding ourselves who it all really belongs to and leaning on Him rather than ourselves. Our offerings are not about money they are about trusting God to provide for us. Our offerings are about giving up control and letting God drive the car of our life. Let me ask you this: if you can’t trust God to provide for you physically with your finances, how is it that you think you can trust Him with your Spiritual needs? If you can’t trust God to be faithful to His little promises like that He will provide for your daily needs, then how can you trust God’s big promises like to save your soul? Don’t you get it? If you can’t trust God with your wallet, then you can’t trust Him with your life.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. – Matthew 6:24

It is time we stopped letting money get in our way. It is time we let go of our reservations and truly let God be Lord of our lives. Do you put your faith in God or do you put it in money? You see the Lord of your life is the object that you have the most faith in. If your faith is in money, then money is your master. So what I want to ask you to do today is see what money really is. Money is teacher that shows us how to trust God with everything we are. Use it as such. God bless you
