Title: We Saw His Star
“]
“…We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” – Matthew 2:2
As the year draw to a close, many of us are planning for the New Year, some are writing their New Year resolution, other are writing their financial goals or aspiration. There has been much talk among Christians about vision, which we all have to define. Vision primarily has to do with sight; it is seeing things from God’s perspective. The purpose for which you were born into this world; in other words finding out what God had on His heart when he made you. Every vision goes through the following Phases
Conception
No child is born without being conceived, no vision can be born without conception. Joseph conceived his vision in a dream (Genesis 37:5). A dream is not the only means by which a vision is conceived. A problem around you might be an indication of your vision; Nehemiah’s vision was born out of the burden to see the broken walls of the city rebuilt. What you like doing might also help you forge your vision, asked yourself what I would do if money was not a motivating factor and I have all I need at my disposal. For each vision God have given the required talent.
Growth
The Angel visiting Mary said “…Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child…” – Luke 1:36. You might ask why! For every vision, there are vision killers, in the days of Jesus, it was Herod, in the days of Nehemiah, it was Sanballat and Tobiah.
This was Mary’s first pregnancy, she knows nothing about the morning sickness, throwing up, food craving, swollen foot etc. she needed someone around her to encourage her, to tell her “don’t panic, don’t worry. It’s all going to be alright”. Sometimes you might to leave your currently environment for your vision to grow. If Mary had stayed in her home, she might have terminated the pregnancy but she returned after three months, when the pregnancy cannot be terminated (Luke 1:56).
[pullquote] “If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.” – Isaac Newton [/pullquote]
Maturity Jesus was thirty years old when he began his ministry (Luke 3:23). I have wondered what would have taken him so long, after all he was born divinely, and he had all the tools he needed to do his ministry. He could have begun his ministry at the age of 21 years. He knew the scripture even as a teenager (Luke 2:46). What stopped him was his maturity. If you appear before your time, you will be sour taste in mouth people like an unripen fruit. Jesus needed to mature.
They disciples were first called Christian (Christ like) years after the master had left, it took time for them to fill that shoe (acts 11:26). Vision takes time to mature, thank God for medical science which can determine the sex of a baby before he or she is born. But your vision needs time to grow to maturity. No matter how long you pray over a three months pregnancy you cannot deliver a healthy baby
Deliveryonce your vision is birth, the world will gather to see it; those that will support your vision will come from far and near with their gift. The wise came from the east. People will to the rising of your star. I wrote a Formula for vision:
Information + spiritual insight = vision
Within information, I have encapsulated the following “knowledge, wisdom and understanding”. You must make permanent decision on poor information. Secondly Spiritual insight, the Holy Spirit knows the heart of the father and he is the custodian of God’s vision for our life. You must be in tune with him to get it right (1 Cor. 2:11; Joel 2:28).
Where there is no vision the people perish – Proverbs 29:18
Vision brings motivation and motivation brings productive actions. Like Jesus we must all say “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” – John 4:34-35
Prayer Points
- Father, make clear to me your vision and purpose for my life through Holy Spirit in Jesus name. (1 Corinthians 2;11)
- Father, lead me in the path I ought to go in Jesus Name (Psalms 23:2)
- Father disassociates me from every vision killer in Jesus Name (Nehemiah 4:1)
