Title: He makes everything beautiful in own time
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11
We all hate delays. A long queue at the supermarket, a slow crawl through thick traffic. In an age where everything is expected to be fast, patience is not a virtue easily found. We expect everything to be done quickly as an Internet connection, and often carry this mentality into God’s presence. Although He is a very up-to-date God, He is still very old fashioned in His methods.
That we must patiently wait for good things to come in life has a way of making us appreciate a great deal that we would have otherwise overlooked or forgotten. We should have a spirit of gratitude for the things that we have, and realize that God highlights the beauty of things in our lives through the blessing of time itself. He perfects things in His own time.
If you try to open the petals of beautiful rose, you might kill it; but if you allow it to blossom, day after day it grows into a beautiful rose. There is a time and a purpose for everything under heaven (Ecc. 3:1). Our God is a God of order and purpose. Even those things that seem a waste, play their part in the blessing of time.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. – Ecclesiastes 3:1
Too many people give up too quickly when their timing doesn’t match God’s timing. The scriptures records the death of Lazarus. Martha says to Jesus, “If you had been here, my brother would not have died.” – John 11:21. Jesus replies to her, “I am the resurrection and the life”.
We have a similar example in Job’s wife who says, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!” (Job 2:9). Time and Timing belongs to God. “…It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” (Acts 1:7). Since there are God-appointed times, we must accept and honour them. Don’t get bitter, don’t blame people or God when events seem outside our control. Don’t lose faith and resist giving God control in your life. Violating God’s appointed times and seasons will result in something; a disaster and less than the best life for you and God.
He sovereignly orchestrates all things to suit His purpose under heaven. We must continue to depend on God, and be steadfast in prayers; for if we lose sight of this vital truth, we will also lose hope. But when your time fully comes, just as no one can stop the sun from rising, no one will be able to stop you (Gal.4:4).
