Title: His Blood Speaks
Scripture: “to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.” – Hebrews 12:24
The blood of Christ is the centre of the gospel. It is the pivot of God’s plan of salvation. Christ lived a sinless life. He was a spotless example. With perfect consecration He preached righteousness, making him a perfect sacrifice. If the blood of Jesus still speaks, what does His blood say to us in this century?
- The devil is the accuser of brethren: “For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down” (Rev 12: 10). The devil is constantly seeking for ways he can condemn us to death. For example, Our past sins before we became to know Christ. The scripture tells us “Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob” (Isaiah 41:21). The strongest reason you can bring before God is the blood of Christ, even when found guilty the blood cries for mercy.
- The blood of Jesus speaks destruction to our enemy: “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2:14-15). The blood holds greater devastating power than all nuclear weapons combined. The enemy has no answer when the blood is applied. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony
- It reminds God of his love for humanity: “For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son” (John 3:16). It good that the rainbow is in sky remind God that he would destroy with water but there is no verse that says he would destroy via fire. The scripture, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” ( Romans 8:32)
- The blood speaks new life in Christ: Once when there is dispute over the paternity of child, the judge often asks for a DNA test to be conducted. We are legitimate children of the Lord. The scripture tells us, “Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:13) The blood speak of testifies that we are legitimate child or children of God. And as children we have access to the Almighty God (Heb. 10:19–22)
Abel’s blood cried for revenge and vengeance. Jesus’ blood cries for mercies and forgiveness. The power of the blood is undiminished!
