Scripture: You are good, and what you do is good;
teach me your decrees – Psalms 119:68

We sing about the goodness of God often but do we fully understand this attribute of God? The goodness of God is not only an attribute of God but a foundational truth every Christian should embrace. The difficulties of life do not cancel out the goodness of God. The goodness of God cannot be blocked by anything that changes. God is immutable. God never changes. God is good all the time.

They don’t know Him as their Saviour and Lord.
They equate God’s goodness with their circumstances.
They do not see the value and purpose of everything that God allows to happen in life.
They are not willing to acknowledge God in the life He has given them.
They do not understand the nature and character of God.

How God reveals His goodness

Natural blessings: We have an endless supply of Oxygen, sun light and rain. Ask yourself, how much it would cost if we had to pay for it?
Supernatural interventions : God comes to the rescue of people from destruction. He delivers them from their distress, breaks the chains of bobdages

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

God does not withhold anything that is truly good from His children. He says, “I know the thought I have towards you”. God is for you. He has your back. He is there, plotting to do you good.

Malachi 3:6 says, “For I the Lord do not change…”

Respond to God’s goodness

The goodness of God calls for a response. Let me give you three specific steps we must take to change our lives and begin to fully experience the effects of God’s generosity.

Repent of unbelief and ingratitude : Stop. Look around you. See the hand of the Lord in your life and turn to Him today. Put an end to taking from God and learn to thank Him.
Rest in His goodness when adversity comes
Step out in faith
