Title : The Violent takes it

Scripture :“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force” – Matthew 11:12

There are forces of evil which oppose God’s word and His work, and we see violent men working against God and His church in this world; but God’s Kingdom is also coming with power and many people are being freed from the power of Satan as they take hold of the good news of Jesus Christ. Passive Christianity does not get result. Satanic Host are constantly oppressing the Saint. Laws are being set to limit the growth of the kingdom of God. Certainly, passive Christian’s won’t get the job done. The word translated “the violent” always carries a negative connotation. It therefore cannot describe a positive action, as in “eager men are forcing their way into it”.

There’s something blunt, rough, and unpolished about Kingdom people, yet we’re called to be gentle, harmless, gracious, and hospitable, too. How do those traits merge? I believe the answer is in the way we approach spiritual things. A Kingdom person is never called to reduce his or her sensitivity toward people, tenderness in loving, or generosity of attitude. To the contrary, you can count on a genuine believer to mature into a lovely lady or a real gentleman. But when you get that lady or gentleman face-to-face with a spiritual challenge, she or he will become violent. The person will become indignant with the gall of the devil to attempt to encroach upon a realm wherein Christ has worked redemption. Such believers are impatient with demons and antagonistic toward any of hell’s working. A person who has begun to understand the nature of the spiritual struggle will be kind in demeanour toward people, but vicious in his or her prayer life and spiritual warfare.

Force is the only language the devil understands. Only power puts him in check (Psalms 66:3). Daniel prayed for 21 days before the answer to his prayers was released to him. The decision to enter the Kingdom of Heaven requires some kind of vigorous and forceful action.

[pullquote] “strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” – Matthew 7:14[/pullquote] Defensive Christians are just trying to stay saved, satisfied with the status quo, defending their few goods from the devil’s attacks. But, offensive Christians aren’t satisfied with past accomplishments or rest on their present laurels. They ever press against the gates of Hell to pull down more and more of Satan’s strongholds. “Submit yourselves therefore to God; resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

We are not allowed to be covetous or aggressive about money, prestige, or position. They are not the Kingdom. However, there are no limits on the spiritual riches, wisdom, grace, help, or anything else we want to seize for the betterment of others. As the kingdom faced hostility then, so does it now. But believers can confidently rest in God’s triumph over evil, sin, and death itself in the Lord Jesus Christ.
